George Ciampa, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed peacefully on January 03, 2024 at the age of 98. George was born June 16, 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts to Fiorentino and Maria Ciampa. After moving to Los Angeles in the 1930s, he graduated from Inglewood High School and was drafted into the Army. He became an honored World War II D-Day veteran, inductee into the French Legion of Honor, and 2017 Los Angeles County Veteran of the Year. After over 25 years with the Los Angeles Times in advertising and special sections management, George began a new mission educating younger generations on the true cost of freedom- that borne by the many soldiers who never returned home from the battlefield. A producer of six documentaries who also published his war memoirs, he found inspiration in sharing his stories and experiences with the world.

Some of George’s other passions were USC football, Dodger baseball, traveling to Europe to attend multiple D-Day commemorations, and spending time with cherished family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris (Baldwin) Ciampa, and his 9 brothers and sisters, he remarried and is survived by wife Dorothy Sturtevant, daughter Sandi (Ciampa) Rusconi, and son Michael Ciampa. He also leaves behind two dear grandchildren and multiple beloved stepchildren and grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
